Technical Intern – Spatial Computing & Scene Reconstruction (Noblis 2026 Summer Internship Program)
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated Technical Intern for the Noblis 2026 Summer Internship Program. This exciting internship offers hands-on experience in the cutting-edge fields of spatial computing and scene reconstruction utilizing immersive technologies.
We are looking for a motivated coder eager to expand their skill sets within a dynamic team that excels in leveraging the latest development tools and hardware platforms. You will contribute to creating immersive systems by applying your skills to scene reconstruction and spatial computing applications. The Spatial Computing Intern will be an integral part of our virtual reality systems development team within the Noblis Immersive Systems Laboratory.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement scene reconstruction algorithms and workflows.
- Process and integrate 3D spatial data from various capture sources.
- Build spatial computing features, including 3D interactions, physics simulations, and spatial interfaces.
- Work with point clouds, 3D meshes, and geospatial data in immersive environments.
- Debug and troubleshoot spatial computing issues across various platforms.
- Apply best practices for performance optimization in spatial computing applications.
- Collaborate with designers and developers to integrate scene reconstruction assets and spatial features.
- Document code and maintain technical documentation.
- Test spatial computing experiences with reconstructed scenes and provide feedback on usability and performance.
- Integrate spatial computing SDKs and third-party plugins.
- Explore implementation of scene reconstruction tools in cloud computing environments.
Required Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Vision, Geospatial Science, or a related field.
- Minimum 3.3 GPA.
- Must have at least one semester left in school after the internship.
- US Citizen.
- Familiarity with scene reconstruction concepts, 3D data processing, and spatial computing.
- Understanding of 3D mathematics, physics, and spatial computing principles.
- Experience with one or more programming languages, including but not limited to Python, Rust, Swift, etc.
- Knowledge of spatial data formats and coordinate systems.
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with scene reconstruction techniques (photogrammetry, 3D scanning, point cloud processing, LiDAR).
- Familiarity with 3D data formats and processing libraries (PCL, Open3D, PDAL).
- Experience with spatial computing platforms and SDKs (XR frameworks, spatial anchors, world tracking).
- Knowledge of geospatial tools and formats (Cesium, GIS systems, geotiles).
- Knowledge of version control systems (Git).
- Understanding of performance optimization techniques for real-time 3D applications.
- Experience with cloud computing platforms and distributed processing (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Familiarity with VR/AR development tools.

Compensation
Compensation at Noblis is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the combination of education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, internal and external equity, location, clearance level, as well as contract-specific affordability, organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. The projected compensation range for this position is based on full-time status. For part-time or on-call staff, compensation is proportionately adjusted based on hours worked. While monetary compensation is important, it’s just one component of Noblis’ total compensation package.
Posted Salary Range: USD $23.00 – USD $38.00 /Hr.
