Job Description:
This position is for a teacher whose primary purpose is to provide students with appropriate educational activities and experiences. These experiences will enable them to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth, and develop the skills necessary to be a productive member of society.
Duties/Responsibilities:
• School Responsibilities:
• Arriving at school 15 minutes before carpool (7:15 am) and staying until designated by School Director/Managing Director.
• Participating in school-wide and individual professional development, including a 2-3 week summer session.
• Attending and participating in all staff meetings.
• Performing necessary duties, including bus, morning, lunch, and afternoon duties.
• Chaperoning field lessons and field trips.
• Abiding by all state and federal mandates in reporting sexual or physical abuse and neglect.
• Upholding the code of conduct and all school policies.
• Maintaining and supporting a positive professional school culture.
• Modeling behavior within the code of conduct.
• Supporting and following directives of campus administrators.
• Providing clerical, instructional, and behavioral support for scholars as needed.
• Enrolling in and completing all Texas Reading Academies Training.
• Team Responsibilities:
• Working as part of an interdisciplinary team to plan, align, and integrate curricula that will be consistently assessed.
• Attending all grade-level meetings.
• Working with the grade level to address and resolve student issues.
• Classroom Responsibilities:
• Creating rigorous and engaging long-term, quarterly, weekly, daily, and lesson-specific lesson plans.
• Setting clear short-term and long-term goals to drive instruction.
• Maintaining a productive, safe, and focused learning environment.
• Consistently enforcing Uplift Education’s core mission and values.
• Creating and providing meaningful and frequent assessments in a timely manner, utilizing the daily conference time to do so.
• Providing necessary accommodations and modifications for the growth and success of all students.
• Effectively teaching the adopted curriculum, the Uplift curriculum, and the International Baccalaureate components.
• Ensuring all students are meeting appropriate standards.
• Keeping parents well-informed about students’ progress, providing frequent feedback in accordance with campus guidelines, weekly assessments, and quarterly report cards.
• Maintaining an open-door policy.
• Upholding all school policies within the classroom.
• Communicating effectively with students, parents, staff, and public agencies in support of the attendance program.
• Completing network and/or state-mandated trainings by the due date.
Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) from an accredited college or university required. A Master’s Degree is preferred but not required.
• Experience: Previous Teaching experience is a plus.
• Certifications:
• Must have a valid Texas Teacher Certification or be enrolled in an Uplift-designated certification course.
• All K-3 teachers, including special education teachers, and principals are required to attend the HB 3 Reading Academies by the end of the 2022 – 2023 school year.
• Required Skills/Abilities:
• Communication Skills: Strong communication skills are required.
• Bilingual Skills: Spanish speaking is a plus.
• Technology: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook) and the ability to use basic office equipment. The ability to learn and use other software as necessary.
Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
• Employee must be able to maintain emotional control under stress.
• Occasional prolonged and irregular hours will be necessary.
• Must be able to sit, talk, hear, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
• Frequently required to stand, walk, and use stairs.
• Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• The noise level is low to high and may have frequent interruptions.
• There may be activity from other employees and students of a distracting nature.
Starting Salary: $60,000
