Job Description:
Sandia National Laboratories’ Energy and Homeland Security Program is offering a summer internship program, TCU BEST (Business Enablers in Science & Technology), specifically for enrolled students at Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs). The internship is primarily virtual but may include a one-week trip to Sandia’s Albuquerque location.
Internship Focus: Interns will work within Sandia’s Integrated Business and Program Management Solutions organization (Center 8100), supporting various business functions. This includes contributing to projects related to:
• Financial management
• Project management
• Procurement/supply chain
• Quality assurance
• Human Resources
• Communications
• Technical business development
Responsibilities:** Interns will collaborate with teams to support Sandia’s mission by:
• Adding value to existing operations.
• Offering innovative solutions.
• Appropriately managing risk.
Program Details: The program runs for 10-14 weeks during the summer and includes:
• A matrix assignment within a specific Sandia organization.
• Onboarding meetings.
• Potential group projects.
• Networking events.
• Other business-related activities.
Applicant Requirements: Minimum qualifications include:
• Full-time enrollment in an accredited undergraduate program during the spring term preceding the internship (or scheduled spring graduation).
• Minimum 3.0/4.0 GPA.
• Ability to work up to 40 hours per week during the summer.
• U.S. citizenship (required for security clearance).
Preferred qualifications include:
• Acceptance into a TCU or transition from a TCU feeder school.
• Business-related degree (Finance, Accounting, Project Management, Procurement/Contracting, Logistics/Operations, Human Resources, Economics).
• Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving, communication, and time management skills.
• Research experience.
• Microsoft Office proficiency.
• Familiarity with scheduling software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6).
• Experience working with large datasets.
Interview Process: Interviews are anticipated between mid-January and early February 2025. A subcommittee of business managers and/or staff will conduct the interviews. Placement will be based on intern interests and Sandia’s project needs. The program aims to build a pipeline for potential future internships and/or full-time employment at Sandia.
