Job Description: Tax Services Intern/Trainee:
This entry-level internship provides experience in a team-oriented problem-solving environment within PwC’s Tax Services department. Interns will contribute to complex business issues, from strategy to execution. The role focuses on assisting clients with various tax-related matters, including:
• Advising on local and overseas tax affairs: This includes managing indirect taxes, dispute resolution, and developing global enterprise tax solutions.
• Tax risk identification and reduction: Helping clients meet compliance obligations and implement tax strategies aligned with business objectives.
• Dispute resolution: Assisting in resolving disagreements with tax authorities.
• Tax accounting and reporting: Managing tax accounting and reporting issues.
Specific project involvement may include:
• International tax
• Mergers and acquisitions (M&A)
• State and local tax (SALT) accounting
• Regulatory processes
• Tax reporting and strategy
The internship will offer exposure to various tax specialties, including:
• SALT (State and Local Tax): A broad spectrum of tax areas, including asset management, income/franchise tax planning, dispute resolution, sales and use tax, employment taxes, credits and incentives, and abandoned property.
• Real Estate Tax: Federal, local, and overseas tax affairs; strategic consulting on deals and transactions (mergers, acquisitions, investments, etc.); partnership tax, corporate tax, state and local tax, international tax, and REIT taxation.
• International Tax Services (ITS): Managing global tax rates, cost reduction, and responding to regulatory inquiries; advising on tax laws, reporting, legislation, and planning strategies based on geography and jurisdiction.
• M&A (Mergers and Acquisitions) Tax: Helping clients meet tax obligations across various specialties; advising on local and overseas tax affairs; strategic consulting on business analysis, indirect taxes, dispute resolution, and global enterprise tax solutions; assisting with aspects of M&A transactions such as restructuring, divestiture, partnerships, and insolvency. Focus on establishing treasury goals, analyzing tax assets, assessing tax risks, and modeling taxable income and cash flow impacts.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
• Minimum: Juris Doctorate (JD) degree. Zero years of experience required.
• Preferred: Taxation or Accounting degree; GPA of 3.0 or higher; relevant certifications (to be obtained before full-time employment).
Preferred Knowledge and Skills:
• Researching and analyzing tax laws, rules, and regulations.
• Client and firm management interaction (written and verbal communication).
