Job Description: Tax Services Intern/Trainee

This entry-level internship/trainee position within PwC’s Tax Services department offers opportunities to work on a team solving complex business issues. Interns will contribute to projects across various tax specialties, including:

International Tax: Advising clients on cross-border tax needs, managing global tax rates, cost reduction, and regulatory inquiries. This includes assisting with local tax laws, reporting, statutory filings, corporate strategy, transfer pricing, and indirect tax.
Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A): Supporting clients in managing tax obligations during mergers, acquisitions, restructuring, divestitures, partnerships, and insolvency. This involves tasks such as establishing treasury goals, analyzing tax assets, assessing risks, and modeling income and cash flow impacts.
State and Local Tax (SALT): Working on a broad spectrum of tax areas, including asset management, income/franchise tax planning, dispute resolution, sales and use tax, employment taxes, credits and incentives, and abandoned property.
Real Estate: Advising on federal, local, and overseas tax affairs related to real estate deals and transactions (mergers, acquisitions, investments, conversions, etc.). This includes expertise in partnership tax, corporate tax, state and local tax, international tax, treaty analysis, and REIT taxation.

Responsibilities:

Interns will support senior team members in:

• Researching and analyzing tax laws, rules, and regulations.
• Interacting with clients and firm management (written and verbal communication).
• Problem-solving using various tools and techniques.
• Producing high-quality work adhering to professional standards.
• Staying updated on technical developments.
• Handling and analyzing data responsibly.
• Communicating clearly and concisely.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications: Minimum Juris Doctorate (JD) degree; 0 years of experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Preferred fields of study include Taxation or Accounting; Preferred cumulative GPA of 3.0. Prior to full-time employment, candidates must meet educational requirements for relevant professional credential licenses.
Preferred Knowledge/Skills: Demonstrated abilities in researching and analyzing tax matters, client interaction, self-motivation, understanding of tax compliance services (planning, strategy, execution), knowledge of federal and state tax laws, researching business trends, and experience with automation and digitization in a professional services environment.

Additional Information:

Internships are typically offered during winter/spring or summer before graduation. Salary range is $28.00 – $44.75 (dependent on skills, experience, location, and applicable laws).
