Job Description: Tax Services Intern/Trainee

This internship/trainee program offers entry-level individuals the opportunity to join a team of problem solvers within the Tax Services department. As an intern/trainee, you will be involved in a variety of projects that contribute to meeting the tax needs of PwC’s clients.

Key responsibilities include:

Helping clients meet and manage their tax obligations: This involves providing advice on local and overseas tax affairs and acting as a strategic consultant for various tax-related issues.
Reducing tax risks: Identifying and mitigating tax risks for clients to ensure compliance and optimize their tax strategies.
Meeting compliance obligations: Ensuring clients adhere to all relevant tax laws and regulations.
Implementing tax strategies: Collaborating with clients to develop tax strategies that align with their business and operational objectives.
Resolving disputes with tax authorities: Assisting clients in navigating and resolving disagreements with tax authorities.
Managing tax accounting and reporting issues: Supporting clients in managing their tax accounting and reporting processes.

Specific areas of focus:

International tax
Mergers and acquisitions
State and local tax accounting
Regulatory processes
Tax reporting and strategy

Job Requirements and Preferences:

Minimum Degree Required: Juris Doctorate
Minimum Years of Experience: 0 years
Preferred Fields of Study: Taxation, Accounting
Preferred Cumulative GPA: 3.0
Preferred Knowledge/Skills:
• Demonstrated abilities in researching and analyzing tax laws and regulations
• Proven record of success in interacting with various levels of clients and firm management
• Self-motivation and desire for personal and career development
• Technical knowledge of tax compliance services, including planning, strategy, and execution
• Understanding of federal and state tax laws
• Experience researching business and industry trends to develop a point of view
• Knowledge of automation and digitization in a professional services environment
• Ability to innovate with new and existing technologies and experiment with digitization solutions
• Experience working with large, complex data sets and leveraging data visualization tools

Specific JD/LLM opportunities:

SALT (State and Local Tax): Providing consulting services across a broad spectrum of tax areas, including asset management, income/franchise tax planning, dispute resolution, sales and use tax, and more.
Real Estate: Advising clients on federal, local, and overseas tax affairs related to deals and transactions (mergers, acquisitions, investments, etc.).
ITS (International Tax Services): Helping clients manage their global tax rates, find cost reduction opportunities, and respond to regulatory inquiries.
M&A (Merger and Acquisition): Advising clients on their tax obligations related to mergers, acquisitions, restructurings, divestitures, partnerships, and insolvencies.
