Job Description: Tax Intern/Trainee
As a Tax Intern/Trainee, you will work as part of a team to solve complex business problems, gaining valuable experience in a fast-paced and challenging environment. You will be involved in projects across various areas of tax, including international tax, mergers and acquisitions, state and local tax, and tax compliance.
Key responsibilities:
• Conduct research and analysis of tax laws, rules, and regulations.
• Communicate effectively with clients and firm management, both verbally and in writing.
• Demonstrate initiative and take responsibility for personal growth and development.
• Contribute to the development of tax strategies and solutions.
• Assist with tax compliance projects, including tax planning, preparation, and filing.
• Research business and industry trends to inform client advice.
• Explore and implement new technologies and digital solutions.
• Analyze large datasets to build models and leverage data visualization tools.
Specific opportunities within Tax Services:
• SALT (State and Local Tax): Work on a diverse range of tax issues, including asset management, income/franchise tax planning, dispute resolution, sales and use tax, and abandoned and unclaimed property.
• Real Estate: Advise on federal, local, and international tax matters related to real estate transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, investments, and joint ventures.
• ITS (International Tax Services): Gain experience in managing global tax rates, finding cost reductions, and responding to regulatory authorities.
• M&A (Mergers and Acquisitions): Assist with various aspects of merger and acquisition transactions, such as restructuring, divestiture, and partnerships.
Qualifications:
• Juris Doctorate (JD) required.
• 0 years of experience required.
• Strong research and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Passion for tax and a desire to develop a successful career in the field.
• Preference given to candidates with a strong academic record (GPA of 3.0 or higher).
• Preference given to candidates with relevant certifications (e.g., CPA).
