Job Description: Tax Intern, Business Tax Services – JD/LLM
KPMG is seeking a Tax Intern for its Business Tax Services practice. This internship requires enrollment in an accredited college or university pursuing a JD and/or LLM with a tax concentration (or equivalent). Upon completion of the internship, additional academic credits must be left to complete before obtaining a degree and/or CPA eligibility.
Responsibilities:
• Tax Compliance: Perform tax-related tasks involving tax compliance for various clients (partnerships, corporations, and S-corporations).
• Data Analytics: Participate in data analytics assignments utilizing KPMG’s technology. This includes creating tax return work papers and tax returns for corporate clients and coordinating offshore resources.
• Client Relations: Work within a multi-disciplinary team to develop and maintain excellent client relationships.
• Tax Practice Updates: Stay current on current tax practices.
• Technology Proficiency: Develop skills in key technologies used for client service delivery, such as artificial intelligence (AI), Alteryx, and Power BI.
Qualifications:
• Education: Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a JD and/or LLM with a concentration in tax, or an equivalent program. Upon internship completion, additional academic credits must remain to be completed before degree attainment and/or CPA eligibility.
• GPA: Preferred GPA of 3.0 or above.
• Bilingualism: Preferred bilingualism in English and Spanish, with the ability to use both languages in a business environment.
• Technical Skills: Coursework or minor in information systems, software engineering, computer science, or data and analytics is preferred. Demonstrated quality service mindset; strong technical aptitude; critical thinking skills; and proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook). Ability to learn and navigate technologies such as AI, Alteryx, and Power BI.
• Soft Skills: Excellent communication, time management, and leadership skills; flexible and adaptable team player; resourceful in delivering high-quality work.
• Location & Travel: Must reside within a commutable distance to the office and be able to travel to reasonably commutable work locations using personal transportation. Ability to travel to client premises as needed, sometimes with short notice.
• Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without needing employment-based visa sponsorship. No visa sponsorship is available.
