Job Description:

KPMG is seeking a Tax Intern to join their International Tax practice. As an intern, you will be a vital part of a team advising multinational enterprises on complex tax matters related to cross-border transactions and other business decisions.

Responsibilities:

International Tax Advice: Work alongside colleagues to advise multinational clients on tax implications of cross-border transactions, including optimizing global supply chains, accessing capital, and establishing business operations in new markets.
Tax Structuring: Assist private equity and corporate clients with tax structuring advice for mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, dispositions, and initial public offerings in cross-border contexts. Support clients with internal restructuring transactions.
Tax Law Updates: Stay informed about changes in tax law through KPMG training, materials, and independent study. Advise clients on the impact of these changes and provide recommendations to mitigate risks and identify opportunities.
Tax Provision & Returns: Contribute to the preparation of international tax elements for clients’ financial statements and U.S. federal income tax returns.
Audit Support: Assist KPMG audit teams with their financial statement audits, specifically in relation to the tax implications of global operations and transactions.
Deliverables: Prepare deliverables such as tax calculations, slide decks, memorandums, and emails under the guidance of senior team members.
Technology Development: Build expertise in technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), Alteryx, and Power BI, which are essential for tax professionals delivering client services.

Qualifications:

• Enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a JD, LLM in Taxation, or an equivalent program.
• Upon internship completion, candidates must have additional coursework to complete before obtaining their degree and/or CPA eligibility requirements.
• Preferred GPA of 3.0 or above.
• Strong interest and exposure to a broad range of U.S. international and domestic tax law provisions.
• Demonstrated commitment to quality service delivery.
• Excellent technical aptitude, critical thinking, and research skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) and experience with Excel modeling.
• Exceptional communication, time management, and leadership skills.
• Adaptable and collaborative team player with a resourceful approach to delivering high-quality work.
• Ability to learn and navigate technologies such as AI, Alteryx, and Power BI.
• Must reside within a reasonable commute to the office location and be able to travel to other work locations using personal transportation.
• Willingness to travel and/or work on-site at client premises as needed, with potential for short-notice requests.
• Preferred authorization to work in the U.S. without requiring employment-based visa sponsorship.

Salary Range:

The salary range for this position in California is $99,000 – $133,000. Salary ranges for other locations are available on their website.
