What You’ll Actually Do
• Prepare: Preparing tax returns and tax extensions.
• Organize: Organizing tax information.
• Assist: Assisting with tax notices and examinations.
• Maintain: Maintaining working knowledge of tax preparation software used in office.
• Perform: Performing various administrative tasks, as needed.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Candidates must be a junior or year prior to graduation (dependent on a 4- or 5-year program), have successfully completed at least one tax-related class, hold a minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0, and be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.
• Experience: Active participation in the VITA Program is required.
• Skills: Possess strong organizational capabilities, excellent interpersonal skills, and clear communication abilities. Be detail-oriented and proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite. The role also requires flexibility to commit to a minimum of 25 hours each week, along with the willingness to work weekends as needed during the busy season.
