Tax Intern – Summer 2027 | Grant Thornton (US)

The Tone:
This is an internship position at Grant Thornton, located in Boston, MA, operating under a hybrid model. Grant Thornton is a multinational professional services organization of 12,000 quality-driven professionals, dedicated to making business more personal and building trust for clients. This role provides an opportunity to gain exposure to tax procedures, work alongside experienced professionals, and contribute to client engagements while developing essential skills and building lasting relationships within the firm.

The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Location: Hybrid Boston, MA
• Pay: $40 hourly
• Team: Members of an engagement team, working alongside Partners, Senior Executives, and peers.
• Mission: To support tax consulting and return preparation processes through research, planning, and detailed work paper preparation, fostering professional development and client relationships.

What You’ll Actually Do
Tax Preparation & Review: Review data input, identify and resolve technical tax issues, and assist in the preparation of tax returns, including those completed by the firm in India.
Client & Authority Interaction: Respond to inquiries from the IRS and other taxing authorities, while actively working with client team members to build strong relationships.
Tax Research & Assessment: Identify, research, and assess various complex tax issues, providing critical information and insights to senior staff members.
Project Execution: Take ownership of assigned projects, demonstrating effective project planning and time management skills from inception to completion.
Professional Growth & Engagement: Participate in networking opportunities with peers, engage in regular feedback sessions with a mentor, and connect through social events, team-building, and community outreach activities.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, with a minimum overall GPA of 3.0/4.0.
• Experience: Entry-Level. Willingness and ability to work additional hours as needed and travel to various client sites on short notice. Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without employment-based visa sponsorship now or in the future.
• Skills: Excellent analytical, communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills; strong technical aptitude and skillset; demonstrated project management skillset, including project planning and time management; ability to work efficiently and effectively in a complex team environment.
