Tax Intern Role at KPMG:
KPMG is seeking a motivated Tax Intern to join their Tax practice. The intern will gain valuable experience by participating in a variety of tasks, including:
• Compliance: Assisting with tax compliance for various clients across different industries, including multistate and multinational enterprises. This involves working with partnerships, corporations, and S-corporations.
• Advisory & Planning: Providing tax advice and planning support to clients, addressing their needs in various areas like business decisions, tax planning, and risk management.
• Data Analytics: Participating in data analytics assignments using KPMG’s cutting-edge technology. This involves creating tax return work papers, tax returns, and coordinating with offshore resources.
• Due Diligence: Performing due diligence to identify tax exposures and opportunities for clients.
• State & Local Tax Issues: Assisting multi-state companies with state and local tax issues, including compliance, advising, planning, and handling controversies.
• Multinational Enterprise Advice: Providing guidance to multinational enterprises on business decisions (e.g., location, entity choice, supply chain optimization, capital mobilization) and tax planning decisions (e.g., considering multinational tax risk, global effective tax rate, cash posture).
• Teamwork & Client Relationships: Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team on assignments, fostering excellent client relationships, and maintaining strong communication.
• Technology Proficiency: Building capabilities in key technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), Alteryx, and Power BI to enhance client service delivery.
## Qualifications for the Tax Intern Position:
• Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in business, accounting, finance, taxation, mathematics, economics, information technology, data analytics, engineering (financial, industrial, or systems), or an equivalent program.
• Preferred degrees/areas of study: Accounting and Taxation.
• Pursuing educational requirements for CPA licensure in the state where the office is located (completion of academic credits required prior to starting as a Tax Associate).
• Upon completion of the internship, candidates must have additional academic credits to complete before obtaining their degree and/or CPA eligibility requirements.
• Preferred GPA: 3.0 or above.
• Coursework or minor in information systems, software engineering, computer science, or data analytics is preferred.
• Demonstrated quality service mindset, strong technical aptitude, critical thinking skills, and proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
• Excellent communication, time management, and leadership skills.
• Flexible and adaptable team player with resourcefulness in delivering high-quality work.
• Ability to learn and navigate technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), Alteryx, and Power BI.
• Must reside within a reasonably commutable distance to the office and be able to travel to work locations using personal transportation or public transportation.
• Ability to travel and/or work on-site at client premises as needed.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship.
