Tax Intern – Commercial Japanese Practice:

What you’ll do:

As a Tax Intern within KPMG’s Commercial Japanese practice, you’ll play a vital role in supporting a diverse team that assists high-profile clients with complex tax matters. Your responsibilities will include:

Advising clients: You’ll work alongside experienced professionals to provide comprehensive corporate tax services, encompassing compliance, planning, and research.
Tax return preparation: You’ll help prepare corporate tax returns for Japanese-owned companies operating in the United States.
ASC 740 & IAS 12: You’ll gain practical experience with accounting for income taxes (ASC 740 and IAS 12) as reported on financial statements.
Multi-disciplinary team: You’ll be part of a team that provides a wide range of tax services to Japanese-based companies.
Technology proficiency: You’ll build capabilities in key technologies that enhance tax professionals’ service delivery, including artificial intelligence (AI), Alteryx, Power BI, and more.

What you’ll need:

Education: Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university, pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in accounting, finance, taxation, mathematics, economics, information technology, data and analytics, engineering (financial, industrial, or systems), or an equivalent program.
Preferred: Accounting and Taxation focus, pursuing CPA licensure requirements.
Academic performance: A preferred GPA of 3.0 or above.
Language proficiency: Bilingual in English and Japanese, with the ability to use both languages effectively in a business environment.
Technical skills: Coursework or minor in information systems, software engineering, computer science, or data and analytics is preferred. Strong technical aptitude, critical thinking skills, and proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) are essential.
Soft skills: Demonstrated quality service mindset, excellent communication, time management, and leadership skills. Flexible and adaptable team player with a resourceful approach to delivering high-quality work.
Location: Must reside within a reasonable commuting distance to the office, able to travel to various work locations using own transportation (personal vehicle or public transportation).
Travel: Ability to travel and/or work on-site at client premises as needed, often with short notice.
Work authorization: Authorization to work in the U.S. without requiring employment-based visa sponsorship is preferred.
