Job Description: Tax Intern
KPMG is actively looking for a Tax Intern to join their KPMG Tax practice. This internship offers a chance to be part of a diverse team working with high-profile clients on complex business opportunities and challenges.
Responsibilities:
• Performing tax-related tasks like compliance, advising, and planning for a variety of clients in different industries, including multistate and multinational enterprises (partnerships, corporations, and S-corporations)
• Participating in data analytics assignments utilizing KPMG technology, creating tax return work papers and tax returns, and coordinating with offshore resources
• Conducting tax due diligence to identify tax exposures and opportunities
• Assisting multi-state companies with state and local tax issues, including compliance, advising, planning, and controversies
• Providing advice to multinational enterprises on:
• Business decisions (location, entity choice, supply chain optimization, capital mobilization)
• Tax planning decisions, anticipating short- and long-term considerations, considering multinational tax risk profile, global effective tax rate, and cash posture
• Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team on assignments and fostering excellent client relationships
• Developing proficiency in key technologies used in tax professional client service delivery, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Alteryx, Power BI, and more
Qualifications:
• Enrolled in an accredited college or university, pursuing a Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in business, accounting, finance, taxation, mathematics, economics, information technology, data and analytics, engineering (financial, industrial or systems), or an equivalent program
• Preferred:
• Degrees and/or areas of study: Accounting and Taxation
• Pursuing educational requirements for CPA licensure in the principal place of business
• Preferred GPA of 3.0 or above
• Coursework or minor in information systems, software engineering, computer science, or data and analytics
• Demonstrated quality service mindset, strong technical aptitude, critical thinking skills, and proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
• Excellent communication, time management, and leadership skills, flexible and adaptable team player, resourceful in delivering high-quality work
• Ability to learn and navigate technologies such as AI, Alteryx, and Power BI
• Must reside within a reasonable commutable distance to the office and be able to travel to reasonably commutable work locations using own means of transportation
• Ability to travel and/or work on-site at client premises as needed, sometimes with short notice
• Authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship
