The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Location: In-person Albuquerque, NM
• Mission: Assist experienced tax staff in preparing various corporate, individual, partnership, and fiduciary tax returns, contributing to special projects and tax examinations while developing core accounting skills within a professional services firm.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, with an emphasis on the ability to quickly learn new software programs.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Tax Return Preparation: Assist in the comprehensive preparation of diverse tax returns, including corporate, individual, partnership, and fiduciary filings for the firm’s clients.
• Examination Support: Provide support in preparing essential work papers and special schedules specifically for tax examinations.
• Skill Development: Collaborate directly with experienced tax staff to actively develop and enhance foundational accounting skills.
• Project Contribution: Contribute to and assist with various special projects as assigned by the tax team.
• Task Ownership: Take full responsibility for the thorough completion of all assigned areas and tasks, ensuring full execution of duties.
The Must-Haves
• Background: This is an entry-level internship for candidates currently pursuing or having attained a bachelor’s degree in accounting, Business Administration, or Finance.
• Experience: Candidates must demonstrate strong academic performance with a minimum GPA of 3.2 or higher and be within one year of eligibility to sit for the CPA exam.
• Skills: Requires strong written and verbal communication abilities, a demonstrated desire to learn, and the capability to follow direction effectively within a professional environment.
• Bonus: Preferred qualifications include a basic understanding of taxation principles, the ability to obtain and deploy a working knowledge of research techniques and firm library resources, intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, and the aptitude to quickly learn new software programs.
