Tax Intern | Grant Thornton (US)

The Tone:
This is a seasonal internship at Grant Thornton, offered in a hybrid work model across various Grant Thornton offices and client sites. Grant Thornton is a multinational professional services platform with $2.7 billion in revenues and 12,000 professionals, delivering audit, tax, and advisory services across the U.S., Ireland, and other territories. This role provides an opportunity for interns to gain exposure to tax consulting and return preparation, contribute to client engagements, and develop new skillsets within the firm. Interns will work alongside Partners, Senior Executives, and peers, building lasting relationships and participating in community and office activities.

• Mission: Expose interns to tax procedures, including tax consulting and tax return preparation, through research, planning, and preparation of supporting work papers.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Review data input, identify and resolve technical tax issues, and assist in reviewing tax preparations completed by the firm in India.
• Respond to inquiries from the IRS and other taxing authorities on behalf of clients.
• Research and assess various tax issues, providing information and insights to senior staff members.
• Collaborate with client team members to build strong relationships and work on diverse engagements across varying industries.
• Engage in professional development through mentor meetings, networking, team-building exercises, and community outreach activities to sharpen leadership skills.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-level professional pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting.
• Experience: Maintain a minimum overall GPA of 3.0/4.0. Ability and willingness to work additional hours and travel to various client sites as needed, sometimes on short notice. Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship now or in the future.
• Skills: Excellent analytical, communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills. Strong technical aptitude and skillset. Demonstrated project management skills, including project planning and time management. Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a complex team environment.
