Job Description: Tax Intern – Global Executive & Private Client Group
KPMG is seeking a Tax Intern for its Global Executive & Private Client Group. The internship offers the opportunity to work with high-profile clients on complex international tax matters. Responsibilities include:
• International Tax Compliance and Planning: Supporting clients in analyzing the tax implications of international work, preparing individual income tax returns across multiple jurisdictions (including Federal and State returns), analyzing and utilizing foreign tax credits and tax treaties, and identifying opportunities for global tax planning to minimize tax costs.
• International Business Setup: Assisting corporations in establishing operations in new countries, ensuring compliance with applicable tax and social security rules for both corporations and executive employees.
• Global Compensation and Payroll: Helping determine appropriate compensation packages for executives on international assignments; supporting global payroll processes across multiple locations, while ensuring compliance with local laws.
• Global Mobility Program Support: Providing coordination and support to KPMG’s corporate clients in managing their global mobility programs, including implementing efficient processes and technologies for managing their global workforce.
• Engagement Administration: Assisting Associates and Senior Associates with engagement administration and scoping efforts.
• Technology Skill Development: Building capabilities in key technologies used in client service delivery, such as artificial intelligence (AI), Alteryx, and Power BI.
Qualifications:
• Education: Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Tax, Accounting, International Business, Human Resources, or Finance (or equivalent). A GPA of 3.0 or above is preferred. Upon internship completion, additional academic credits must be remaining to complete the degree and/or CPA eligibility requirements.
• Language Skills: Bilingual in English and Japanese (preferred).
• Technical Skills: Ability to analyze basic tax and accounting information; proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook); demonstrated ability to learn and utilize technologies like AI, Alteryx, and Power BI.
• Soft Skills: Demonstrated quality service mindset; strong technical aptitude; critical thinking skills; excellent communication, time management, and leadership skills; flexibility and adaptability as a team player; resourcefulness in delivering high-quality work.
• Other: Must reside within a commutable distance to the office and be able to travel to client sites as needed. Authorization to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship is preferred.
