Job Description: Tax Intern
KPMG is seeking a Tax Intern to join its Tax practice. The role involves a wide range of responsibilities:
• Tax Compliance, Advisory, and Planning: Performing tax-related tasks for diverse clients across various industries, encompassing multistate and multinational enterprises (partnerships, corporations, and S-corporations). This includes compliance work, advisory services, and strategic tax planning.
• Data Analytics: Participation in data analytics assignments using KPMG’s proprietary technology. This includes creating tax return work papers and tax returns, and coordinating with offshore resources.
• Tax Due Diligence: Identifying tax exposures and opportunities for clients through due diligence processes.
• State and Local Tax (SALT): Assisting multi-state companies with SALT issues, including compliance, advisory, planning, and dispute resolution.
• Multinational Tax Advisory: Advising multinational enterprises on:
• Business Decisions: Location and operational strategies, entity selection, supply chain optimization, and capital access and mobilization for global operations.
• Tax Planning Decisions: Anticipating and understanding short- and long-term tax implications, considering multinational tax risk profiles, global effective tax rates, and cash flow management.
• Teamwork and Client Relations: Working collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams on assignments and maintaining strong client relationships.
• Technology Proficiency: Developing skills in key technologies utilized in tax service delivery, such as artificial intelligence (AI), Alteryx, and Power BI.
Qualifications:
• Education: Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in business, accounting, finance, taxation, mathematics, economics, information technology, data and analytics, or engineering (financial, industrial, or systems), or an equivalent program.
• Preferred Qualifications:
• Accounting and Taxation degrees/areas of study.
• Pursuing CPA licensure requirements in the relevant state.
• A GPA of 3.0 or above.
• Coursework or minor in information systems, software engineering, computer science, or data and analytics.
• Demonstrated strong service orientation, technical aptitude, critical thinking skills, and proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
• Excellent communication, time management, and leadership skills. Ability to work effectively as a team member.
• Must reside within a commutable distance to the office and possess reliable transportation.
• Ability to travel to client sites as needed.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship.
