Job Description: Tax Intern – State & Local Tax Practice
KPMG is seeking a Tax Intern to join its State & Local Tax practice. The role involves assisting clients with a variety of tasks, focusing on the intersection of business needs and automated systems. Responsibilities include:
• Client support: Gathering and documenting business and system requirements; analyzing complex business problems for automated system solutions; communicating effectively and timely with clients.
• Team collaboration: Working with cross-functional teams to resolve business or systems issues.
• Process development: Creating necessary process documents, data intake forms, tools, and work plans for each project.
• Application of knowledge: Understanding and applying business rules and requirements to client applications and deliverables.
• Technology development: Building capabilities in key technologies used for client service delivery, including artificial intelligence (AI), Alteryx, Power BI, and others.
Qualifications:
• Education: Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Business, Accounting, Systems, or a related field. Upon internship completion, candidates must have remaining academic credits to fulfill degree and/or CPA eligibility requirements.
• GPA: A preferred GPA of 3.0 or above.
• Technical skills: Proficiency in MS Access, VB, Power BI, Alteryx, and/or SQL is preferred but not required. Strong MS Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Project, Visio) are essential.
• Soft skills: Demonstrated quality service mindset; strong technical aptitude; critical thinking skills; excellent communication, time management, and leadership skills; flexibility and adaptability as a team player; resourcefulness in delivering high-quality work.
• Location & Travel: Must reside within a commutable distance to the office and be able to travel to client premises as needed, potentially with short notice. Personal transportation (vehicle or public transit) is required.
• Legal: Authorization to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship is preferred.
