Job Description: Tax Intern
KPMG is seeking a Tax Intern to join its tax practice. The responsibilities are multifaceted and include:
• Tax Compliance, Advisory, and Planning: Performing tax-related tasks encompassing compliance, advising, and planning for diverse clients across various industries. This involves work with multistate and multinational enterprises, including partnerships, corporations, and S-corporations.
• Data Analytics: Participating in data analytics assignments utilizing KPMG’s technology. This includes creating tax return work papers and tax returns for clients and coordinating with offshore resources.
• Tax Due Diligence: Conducting tax due diligence to identify tax exposures and opportunities.
• State and Local Tax (SALT): Assisting multi-state companies with SALT issues, including compliance, advising, planning, and controversies.
• Multinational Enterprise Advisory: Advising multinational enterprises on:
• Business Decisions: Location and operational decisions, entity selection, supply chain optimization, and capital access and mobilization for global operations.
• Tax Planning Decisions: Assisting clients in anticipating and understanding short- and long-term tax implications, considering multinational tax risk profiles, global effective tax rates, and cash posture.
• Teamwork and Client Relations: Working collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team on assignments and maintaining excellent client relationships.
• Technology Development: Building capabilities in key technologies used for client service delivery, such as artificial intelligence (AI), Alteryx, and Power BI.
• Professionalism: Acting with integrity, professionalism, and personal responsibility to uphold KPMG’s respectful work environment.
The ideal candidate will be enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in business, accounting, finance, taxation, mathematics, economics, information technology, data and analytics, or engineering (financial, industrial, or systems). Preferred qualifications include an accounting and taxation focus, pursuit of CPA licensure, a GPA of 3.0 or above, coursework or a minor in information systems, software engineering, computer science, or data analytics, and demonstrated strong technical aptitude, critical thinking skills, and proficiency in MS Office applications. Excellent communication, time management, and leadership skills are essential, along with adaptability and resourcefulness. The candidate must reside within reasonable commuting distance of the office and be able to travel to client sites as needed. Finally, authorization to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship is required.
