Job Description: Tax Intern (International Tax Practice)
KPMG is seeking a Tax Intern to join its International Tax practice. The intern will work alongside colleagues to advise multinational enterprises on various tax matters related to cross-border transactions and other key business decisions. These responsibilities include:
• Advising Multinational Enterprises: Providing guidance on cross-border transactions, optimal global supply chain strategies, and efficient capital access and mobilization for global operations.
• Tax Structuring Advice: Assisting private equity and strategic corporate clients with tax structuring for mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, dispositions, and initial public offerings (IPOs) in the international context; supporting clients with internal restructuring transactions.
• Tax Law Updates & Client Advisory: Staying abreast of changes in tax law (through KPMG training, materials, and independent study) and advising clients on the impact of these changes. Providing recommendations to mitigate risks and capitalize on opportunities.
• Tax Provision & Return Preparation: Contributing to the preparation of international tax elements within clients’ financial statement tax provisions and U.S. federal income tax returns.
• Audit Team Support: Assisting KPMG audit teams with financial statement audits, focusing on the tax implications of global operations and transactions.
• Deliverable Preparation: Creating various deliverables such as tax calculations (models), slide decks, memorandums, and emails, under the guidance of senior team members.
• Technology Proficiency: Developing skills in key technologies used for client service delivery, including artificial intelligence (AI), Alteryx, and Power BI.
• Professional Conduct: Maintaining integrity, professionalism, and personal responsibility to uphold KPMG’s work environment standards.
The position requires enrollment in an accredited college or university pursuing a JD or LLM in Taxation (or equivalent). A preferred GPA of 3.0 or above, demonstrated interest in U.S. international and domestic tax law, and strong technical, analytical, and research skills are also desired. The candidate should be proficient in MS Office applications and possess excellent communication, time management, and teamwork skills. The ability to learn and use technologies like AI, Alteryx, and Power BI is crucial. Local commuting ability and occasional travel to client sites are also required. Authorization to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship is preferred.
