Job Description: Tax Intern (Commercial Japanese Practice)
KPMG is seeking a Tax Intern for its Commercial Japanese practice within Business Tax Services. This role will involve assisting in a wide array of corporate tax services for Japanese-owned companies operating in the United States.
Responsibilities:
• Advising clients on corporate tax services encompassing compliance, planning, and research.
• Preparing corporate tax returns for Japanese companies conducting business in the US.
• Assisting with accounting for income taxes (ASC 740 and IAS 12) as reported on financial statements.
• Collaborating within a multi-disciplinary team to deliver comprehensive tax services to Japanese-based clients.
• Developing proficiency in key technologies utilized in tax client service delivery, including AI, Alteryx, and Power BI.
• Maintaining professionalism and integrity, upholding KPMG’s respectful work environment.
Qualifications:
• Enrollment in an accredited college or university, pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in accounting, finance, taxation, mathematics, economics, information technology, data analytics, engineering (financial, industrial, or systems), or a comparable program.
• Preferred: Accounting and Taxation degrees/focus; progress towards CPA licensure in the relevant state; GPA of 3.0 or higher; Bilingual proficiency in English and Japanese for business use; coursework in information systems, software engineering, computer science, or data analytics.
• Demonstrated commitment to quality service, strong technical aptitude, critical thinking skills, proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook), excellent communication, time management, and leadership abilities.
• Adaptability, teamwork skills, resourcefulness in delivering high-quality work.
• Ability to learn and utilize technologies such as AI, Alteryx, and Power BI.
• Must reside within commuting distance of the office and have reliable transportation.
• Willingness to travel to client sites as needed.
• Authorization to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship is preferred.
