Job Description: Tax Intern (Commercial Japanese Practice)
KPMG is seeking a Tax Intern for its Commercial Japanese practice within Business Tax Services. This internship offers the opportunity to work with a multi-disciplinary team providing a wide range of tax services to Japanese-based companies operating in the United States.
Responsibilities:
• Assisting clients with a full spectrum of corporate tax services, encompassing compliance, planning, and research.
• Preparing corporate tax returns for Japanese-owned companies operating in the U.S.
• Assisting with accounting for income taxes (ASC 740 and IAS 12) reported on financial statements.
• Contributing to the delivery of a wide range of tax services to Japanese-based companies.
• Developing skills in key technologies utilized by tax professionals, including artificial intelligence (AI), Alteryx, and Power BI.
• Maintaining integrity, professionalism, and personal responsibility within KPMG’s work environment.
Qualifications:
• Required: Enrollment in an accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in accounting, finance, taxation, mathematics, economics, information technology, data and analytics, engineering (financial, industrial, or systems), or an equivalent program. Must reside within reasonable commuting distance to the office and have own transportation. Authorization to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship is preferred.
• Preferred:
• Degree/area of study in Accounting and Taxation.
• Pursuit of CPA licensure requirements in the relevant state (academic credits completed before starting as a Tax Associate).
• GPA of 3.0 or above.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Japanese for business use.
• Coursework or minor in information systems, software engineering, computer science, or data analytics.
• Demonstrated quality service mindset, strong technical aptitude, critical thinking skills, and proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
• Excellent communication, time management, and leadership skills; ability to work flexibly and adapt within a team; resourcefulness in delivering high-quality work.
• Ability to travel to client premises with short notice.

Specific salary ranges vary by location.
