Job Description: Tax Intern

KPMG is seeking a Tax Intern to join its Tax practice. The role involves a variety of responsibilities, including:

Tax Compliance, Advising, and Planning: Performing tax-related tasks for diverse clients across industries, including multistate and multinational enterprises (partnerships, corporations, and S-corporations).
Data Analytics: Participating in data analytics assignments utilizing KPMG technology, creating tax return work papers and tax returns, and coordinating offshore resources.
Tax Due Diligence: Identifying tax exposures and opportunities.
State and Local Tax (SALT): Assisting multi-state companies with SALT issues, encompassing compliance, advising, planning, and controversies.
Multinational Enterprise (MNE) Advisory: Advising MNEs on:
Business Decisions: Location and operation choices, entity selection, supply chain optimization, and capital access and mobilization for global operations.
Tax Planning Decisions: Anticipating and understanding short- and long-term tax considerations, including multinational tax risk profiles, global effective tax rates, and cash posture.
Teamwork and Client Relations: Working within multi-disciplinary teams and maintaining excellent client relationships.
Technology Development: Building capabilities in key technologies used for client service delivery, such as artificial intelligence (AI), Alteryx, and Power BI.

Qualifications:

Education: Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in business, accounting, finance, taxation, mathematics, economics, information technology, data and analytics, engineering (financial, industrial, or systems), or an equivalent program.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Accounting and Taxation degrees/areas of study.
• Pursuit of CPA licensure requirements in the office’s principal place of business (completion of necessary academic credits before starting as a Tax Associate).
GPA of 3.0 or above.
• Coursework or minor in information systems, software engineering, computer science, or data and analytics.
• Demonstrated quality service mindset.
• Strong technical aptitude, critical thinking skills, and proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
• Excellent communication, time management, and leadership skills.
• Ability to work flexibly and adapt as a team player.
• Resourcefulness in delivering high-quality work.
• Ability to learn and use technologies like AI, Alteryx, and Power BI.
• Must reside within a commutable distance to the office and have reliable transportation.
• Ability to travel to client premises as needed.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without needing employment-based visa sponsorship.
