Tax Intern Job Description:
KPMG is currently seeking a Tax Intern to join their International Tax practice.
Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with colleagues to advise multinational enterprises on cross-border transactions and business decisions: This includes helping clients determine where to operate, optimize their global supply chains, and access capital for global operations.
• Provide tax structuring advice to private equity and corporate clients: This involves supporting clients with mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, dispositions, and initial public offerings in a cross-border context, as well as internal restructuring transactions.
• Stay up-to-date on tax law changes: This involves utilizing KPMG’s training materials, independent study, and advising clients on the impact of these changes on their business, identifying potential risks and opportunities.
• Assist with tax provision calculations and U.S. federal income tax returns: Help prepare international tax elements for clients’ financial statements and U.S. federal income tax returns.
• Support KPMG audit teams: Collaborate with audit teams, providing expertise on tax implications arising from global operations and transactions.
• Prepare tax calculations and other deliverables: Build capabilities in key technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), Alteryx, Power BI, and more to prepare deliverables such as tax calculations, slide decks, memorandums, and emails.
• Maintain high ethical standards: Act with integrity, professionalism, and responsibility, upholding KPMG’s work environment.
Qualifications:
• Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a JD or LLM in Taxation, or equivalent program.
• Preferred GPA of 3.0 or above.
• Interest and exposure to a broad range of U.S. international and domestic tax law provisions.
• Demonstrated quality service mindset, strong technical aptitude, critical thinking and research skills.
• Proficient in MS Office applications (including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook).
• Excellent communication, time management, and leadership skills.
• Flexible and adaptable team player.
• Resourceful in delivering high-quality work.
• Ability to learn and navigate technologies like AI, Alteryx, and Power BI.
• Must reside within a reasonably commutable distance to the office.
• Must be able to travel to reasonably commutable work locations using own means of transportation.
• Ability to travel and/or work on-site at client premises as needed.
• Authorization to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship is preferred.
