Mission/Purpose: Take Flight is an externship program specifically designed for college students with an interest in marketing and communications. Its core mission is to cultivate a diverse and vibrant workforce that accurately represents the wide range of interests, backgrounds, perspectives, and lived experiences found across the country. The program is facilitated by leading PR agencies based in the Twin Cities.

Role: Externship Program Participant
Program Overview: This externship offers students an immersive, real-world experience in the communications and PR agency profession.
Key Student Experiences:
• Direct-Access Learning: Participants will gain direct insights into the industry through a learning program spearheaded by prominent Twin Cities PR agencies.
• Professional Networking: Students will be integrated into a network of professionals and mentors, providing valuable connections that can lead to future internship opportunities within the Twin Cities area.
• Program Format: The entire program will be conducted virtually for the 2025-26 academic year.
• Time Commitment: Students are required to commit to participating in two 90-minute virtual workshops per month. These sessions will take place at noon Central time on Fridays, spanning from September 2025 to April 2026.
• Stipend: Each student who completes the full program will receive a $1,000 stipend.
Selection Criteria and Application Process:
• Eligibility: The program is open to college students who will be entering 300-level or 400-level classes, or those who are approximately two years away from graduating.
• Application Requirements: All applicants must complete a short online form and submit a video explaining their motivation to explore the communications agency world.
• Review Process: All applications will be thoroughly reviewed by a dedicated program governing committee, which consists of employees from the participating agencies.
