Job Description: Systems Engineering Intern (Trident Program)
This full-time summer internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of the Trident Submarine Navigation program. Working within the Systems & Analysis team, you’ll gain hands-on experience with complex inertial and sonar-based navigation systems, a critical component of the nation’s strategic defense.
Here’s what you’ll be involved in:
• Research and development of new, innovative systems and technologies: Contribute to the advancement of cutting-edge navigation capabilities.
• Analysis of the performance of newly deployed capabilities: Evaluate and improve the effectiveness of the Trident navigation system.
• Participation in the development of enhancements for the next generation Trident navigation system: Shape the future of strategic submarine navigation.

Here’s what you’ll learn:
• Complex inertial and sonar based high performance navigation systems: Gain a deep understanding of the technologies and algorithms used in strategic submarine navigation.
• Performance analysis of navigation systems: Develop skills in data analysis and system evaluation.
• Systems engineering principles and processes: Gain exposure to the entire lifecycle of a complex system, from design and development to testing and deployment.
This internship is ideal for you if:
• You’re a college sophomore or junior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
• You have academic or professional experience using Matlab and are comfortable working in both Windows and Unix/Linux environments.
• You have a basic understanding of probability and statistics and are interested in applying these concepts to real-world problems.
• You’re a US Citizen and are able to obtain a government security clearance.
• You’re excited about the opportunity to work on a challenging and impactful project.
This is a 100% on-site internship located at Lockheed Martin Mitchel Field, NY.
