Job Description: Systems Engineering 2025 Fall Intern (MAKE Automation & Controls Co-op Program):
This internship program, located in Jacksonville, Florida, is open to rising juniors, seniors, and graduate students. The program is part of the MAKE Engineering Division and offers opportunities to contribute to team projects. Interns will receive guidance and mentorship from experienced colleagues.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
The internship involves assisting with tasks related to:
• Process Flow Development: Improving manufacturing processes.
• Visualization Improvements: Enhancing Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs).
• Controls Networking: Working with industrial control systems.
• Data Analytics: Analyzing manufacturing data to improve efficiency.
• Database Improvements: Optimizing data management systems.
• New Product Introduction (NPI): Supporting the launch of new contact lens products.
Specific tasks will vary depending on the project but may include: supporting automation and controls activities for NPI and process improvements, planning and developing visualization solutions, working with data analytics systems, and managing process controls and safety networks.
Qualifications:
• Academic Majors: Engineering (Systems, Aerospace, Biomedical, Computer Science, Electrical, Mechatronics), Informatics/Data Science, or Technical Design (Industrial/Product Design). Graduate studies are preferred.
• Legal Authorization: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship.
• Full-Time Availability: Able to work full-time (40 hours/week).
• Transportation: Must provide own transportation to and from work. A housing stipend may be offered based on distance eligibility.
• Work Ethic and Conduct: Demonstrated strong leadership and work ethic; adherence to safety and environmental policies; maintenance of behavioral standards in line with company policy.
• Academic Standing: Actively enrolled in an accredited college/university; minimum GPA of 3.0; at least 18 years of age.
• Skills and Experience: Detail-oriented; strong communication and influencing skills; highly organized; ability to manage multiple tasks; proficient with Microsoft Office Suite; mid-level to high-level programming skills (e.g., LabView, C++, Python, ladder logic); proficiency in data analytics and data science is preferred; proficiency in process flow design and verification. Demonstrated leadership and/or participation in campus/community service activities is strongly preferred.
