Job Description: Systems Engineering 2025 Fall Intern (MAKE Automation & Controls Co-op Program):
This internship program is located in Jacksonville, Florida, within the MAKE Engineering Division of JJVC. The program is open to rising juniors and seniors, as well as graduate students, in relevant academic fields.
Academic Majors: Engineering (Systems, Aerospace, Biomedical, Computer Science, Electrical, Mechatronics), Informatics and/or Data Science, and Technical Design (Industrial Design/Product Design).
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will assist and contribute to assigned teams, receiving guidance and mentoring from colleagues. Responsibilities will vary based on projects but may include:
• Supporting Automation & Controls activities: Focusing on new product introductions, process flow development, and improvements to enhance productivity.
• Developing Visualization solutions: Creating and improving Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs) to support contact lens manufacturing.
• Working with Data Analytics Systems: Analyzing data to improve processes and efficiency.
• Managing Process Controls and Safety networks: Ensuring safe and efficient operation of manufacturing processes.
• Contributing to New Product Introductions: Supporting the launch of new contact lens products.
• Improving Process Flow Development: Streamlining manufacturing processes for better efficiency.
• Querying/Database improvements: Enhancing data management systems.
Qualifications:
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Must be able to work full-time (40 hrs/week) with reliable transportation.
• Must be enrolled (not necessarily taking classes) at an accredited college/university during the internship period.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Strong leadership and work ethic.
• Adherence to safety and environmental policies.
• Active pursuit of a Bachelor of Science Degree (or higher) in Engineering, Informatics/Data Science, or a related field.
• Detail-oriented, strong communication skills, highly organized, and able to manage multiple tasks.
• Ability to work individually and collaboratively.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Mid-level and High-Level programming skills (e.g., LabView, C++, Python, ladder logic).
• Preferred: Proficiency in Data Analytics and Data Science, Process Flow Design and verification.
• Demonstrated leadership and/or participation in campus/community service activities (preferred).
Additional Notes:
• Students are responsible for their own transportation to Jacksonville. A housing stipend may be available to those meeting distance eligibility requirements.
