Job Description: Systems Engineer Co-op
This is a Systems Engineer Co-op position where individuals will be assigned to work with an experienced project team. Individual responsibilities will be determined by the lead engineer based on specific project requirements and the Co-op’s capabilities. This role is suitable for an intern or part-time engineer.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks:
The role involves assisting with various stages of a typical project, with the following approximate effort distribution:
• Instrumentation & Electrical Design (40%)
• Creating instrument lists by examining P&ID drawings.
• Compiling submittal and procurement documentation for controls and instrument hardware.
• Providing technical support for panel fabrication technicians.
• Inspecting completed control enclosures.
• System Design and Configuration (30%)
• Participating in customer design review meetings.
• Assembling development systems using project hardware and computers.
• Configuring user interface (UI) and Human-Machine Interface (HMI) screens.
• Configuring Direct Digital Control (DDC), Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), and/or Distributed Control System (DCS) control algorithms.
• Drafting system documentation from templates.
• Assisting in customer demonstrations and acceptance testing.
• Onsite System Startup (30%)
• Working in a supervised role and/or with a team at a customer site.
• Installing project software and configuration onto site systems.
• Participating in point-to-point loop checks.
• Performing instrumentation and software calibration and tuning.
• Participating in functional tests of all systems.
• Troubleshooting installation discrepancies.
• Programming field modifications as required.
• Assisting with developing commissioning test plans and documentation updates/redlines.
• Assisting with developing training documentation/presentations on operations and maintenance of the system.
Qualifications:
• Full-time student status.
• Strong academic achievement, maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or above.
• Enrollment in a Bachelor’s program in a Technical Field, related to Engineering, Systems, or Software.
• Passionate about problem solving and developing solutions.
• Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. without RoviSys sponsorship.
