Systems Development Engineer Intern:

Description:

Amazon is seeking talented and motivated Systems Development Engineer interns to join its team and contribute to building innovative technology solutions. This is a full-time, paid internship program that offers hands-on learning experiences and real-world project exposure.

Key Responsibilities:

Create, improve, or invent tools and applications: As an intern, you’ll be involved in building essential components of larger systems within Amazon.
Develop and operate supportable products: You will work on building and maintaining products and services, making significant technical contributions.
Write secure and efficient code: You’ll be responsible for writing high-quality code that meets industry standards for security, stability, testability, and maintainability.
Understand diverse technologies: You will gain knowledge of various technologies, including hardware, software, networking, and operating systems, and how they interact.
Build scalable systems and processes: You will contribute to building systems and processes that enhance team efficiency, safety, and agility.
Learn business context and technologies: You will gain insight into the business context and technical aspects behind your team’s system implementations.

A Day in the Life:

The internship program provides a comprehensive learning experience. Interns will:

• Work on impactful projects, contributing to real-world solutions.
• Engage with Amazonians for both professional and personal development.
• Expand their network and connect with other interns.
• Participate in fun activities throughout the summer.

Basic Qualifications:

• Experience programming in at least one modern language (C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby).
• 18 years of age or older.
• Ability to commit to a 40-hour work week for a minimum of 12 weeks.
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with an expected graduation date between October 2025 and December 2028.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with open-source technologies like Linux, Spring, or React.
• Familiarity with distributed computing, programs, and systems.
• Experience with Linux/Unix systems.
• Experience in automating and simplifying team development, testing, and operations processes.
• Understanding of TCP/ICP networking fundamentals and applications of IP protocols (DNS, DHCP, NTP, SMTP, and SNMP).
• Strong object-oriented design and coding skills in Unix-like operating systems.
• Excellent documentation and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.

Compensation:

• Base pay ranges from $42.88/hr to $97.45/hr depending on location and experience.
• Additional compensation may include equity, sign-on payments, and other benefits.
