Job Description: Systems Development Engineer Intern

Key responsibilities as a Systems Development Engineer Intern:
• Create, improve, or invent tools and/or applications within a larger system.
• Build and maintain a supportable product or service, making significant technical contributions.
• Write high-quality code that is secure, stable, testable, maintainable, and free of defects.
• Demonstrate understanding of various technologies (hardware, software, networking, operating systems) and their interactions.
• Build systems and processes to enhance team efficiency through improved safety, agility, and automation.
• Develop a strong understanding of the business context and technologies behind your team’s projects.

To be considered, you should:
• Have experience programming in at least one modern language (C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby).
• Be 18 years of age or older.
• Be able to commit to a 12-week internship, working 40 hours per week.
• Currently be working towards a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in computer science, computer engineering, systems engineering, electrical engineering, or other equivalent discipline, with an expected conferral date between October 2025 – December 2028.
Preferred qualifications:
• Experience with open-source technologies like Linux, Spring, or React.
• Experience with distributed computing, programs, and systems.
• Experience with Linux/Unix.
• Experience automating and simplifying team development, testing, and operations processes.
• Familiarity with TCP/IP networking fundamentals and applications of IP protocols (DNS, DHCP, NTP, SMTP, and SNMP).
• Strong object-oriented design and coding skills developing on Unix-like operating systems.
• Excellent documentation and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Compensation:
• Base pay ranges from $42.88/hr in our lowest geographic market up to $97.45/hr in our highest geographic market.
• Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
• Amazon offers a total compensation package including equity, sign-on payments, and other benefits.
