About the Sustainability Intern Role
This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the world of sustainability within the hospitality industry. You will work closely with leaders in the Nevada Dining group, developing skills and competencies essential for success in sustainability. The role will provide valuable experience in areas such as:
• Operations: Understanding the inner workings of a hospitality business.
• Marketing: Communicating sustainable practices and initiatives.
• Administration: Managing data and reporting on sustainability progress.
• Guest Services: Interacting with customers and promoting sustainable choices.
• Problem Resolution: Identifying and addressing challenges related to sustainability efforts.
• Innovation: Developing and implementing new sustainable practices.
• Client Relationship Skills: Building strong relationships with stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities:

• Sustainability Coordination: Planning and managing sustainable initiatives within the dining group.
• Results Analysis: Preparing metric-backed reports and stories for stakeholders and business reviews.
• Data Input and Reporting: Tracking and reporting on sustainability data using various programs.
• Financial Analysis: Analyzing the cost-effectiveness of sustainable practices.
• Waste Reduction Initiatives: Promoting and implementing waste reduction programs like “Waste Not” and Food Recovery Network.
• Operational Standards: Ensuring adherence to established sustainable operational standards.
• Storytelling: Communicating sustainability achievements to internal and external audiences.
• Hospitality Experience: Working in various hospitality settings (front-of-house, back-of-house, catering, administration).
• Training: Educating dining team members and students on sustainable practices.
• Presentations and Reports: Presenting findings and recommendations in written and oral formats.
