Supply Chain Intern Job Description
Bechtel’s Supply Chain team offers opportunities for talented individuals who are detail-oriented, enthusiastic, and driven to solve complex supply chain challenges. Each year, the Supply Chain team manages the purchase of approximately $18 billion in goods and services from suppliers in over 50 countries. The interns play a vital role in this process, contributing to various Supply Chain functions:
Areas of Focus:
• Procurement/Purchasing: Qualifying, evaluating, negotiating, and selecting global suppliers and contractors.
• Contracts & Subcontracts: Managing purchase orders and subcontracts to ensure compliance with terms and conditions.
• Inventory & Warehouse Management: Managing complex logistics, including transportation, receipt, and storage of equipment and materials from around the world.
• Logistics: Coordinating with internal and external entities to manage material and equipment shipments.
• Integrated Materials Management: Planning, scheduling, and receiving materials for project use.
Typical Activities:
• Procurement & Contracts:
• Formulating and administering purchase orders
• Preparing service contracts outlining project scope, schedule, and terms
• Contacting suppliers to obtain engineering data and deliverables
• Coordinating shipments with internal and external entities
• Reviewing material requisitions from a Supplier Quality perspective
• Logistics:
• Managing complex logistics efforts in the transportation, receipt, and storage of equipment and material that originate in all parts of the world
• Building supplier and contractor relationships
• Engaging with category management teams for technical and commercial intelligence on the supply chain
Qualifications:
• Currently enrolled in a four-year bachelor’s degree program in Supply Chain Management, Production and Operations Management, or Logistics Management from an accredited college or university.
• Completion of at least one year of undergraduate studies in one of the above fields.
• Eligibility to work and remain in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
• Previous co-op or internship experience.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Location:
• Positions are available at various Bechtel office locations, including Houston, TX and Reston, VA, as well as project sites across the globe.
Compensation:
• hourly range: $21.75 – $28.06 (determined by function, education, experience, and qualifications)
• 15% salary uplift for positions located in New York City or San Francisco (subject to market conditions).
