Category Manager Sweets & Confectionary | Metro AG

This is a full-time role at Metro AG, located in Pakistan, pivotal for driving the success and expansion of the Sweets & Confectionary category. The individual in this role will be instrumental in shaping the product offering, managing key supplier relationships, and implementing strategies to attract and retain customers, directly contributing to the company’s market position and profitability.

• Mission: Own the strategy and performance for the Sweets & Confectionary category by managing supplier relationships, product offerings, and pricing to maximize profitability and customer attraction.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Supplier Relations: Build and maintain strong, productive relationships with key suppliers within the sweets and confectionary sector, meticulously negotiating pricing, terms, and contracts to ensure favorable conditions and address any escalated supplier issues promptly.
• Category Growth: Proactively identify and onboard new, high-potential suppliers to strategically expand the product offerings, enhance sourcing options, and bring innovative products to market within the category.
• Customer Engagement: Develop and implement targeted strategies to effectively attract new customers to the sweets and confectionary category, potentially involving tailored marketing campaigns, enticing promotions, or strategic partnerships to broaden market reach.
• Performance Insight: Conduct thorough sales analysis to identify market trends, pinpoint growth opportunities, and address areas for improvement. This includes tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) and regularly reporting on the category’s progress and strategic initiatives.
• Product & Pricing Strategy: Drive product innovation by identifying opportunities to introduce new items or improve existing ones, working collaboratively with suppliers to develop exclusive offerings. Simultaneously, develop and implement competitive pricing strategies to maximize both profitability and market share within the category.
The Must-Haves
• Background: University degree (Master or Bachelor) in Business Administration, Supply Chain, or any Management discipline.
• Experience: At least 5 years of professional experience within the relevant industry.
• Skills: Supplier relationship management, contract negotiation, sales data analysis, market trend identification, strategic pricing, new product development.
