Job Description: Summer Sales Internship

This is a 10-week paid summer internship opportunity for individuals passionate about a career in sales. The internship aims to provide hands-on experience in serving customers and building essential sales competencies, enabling interns to make a meaningful impact within the organization.

What You Will Do (Key Responsibilities & Learning Experiences):
• Gain practical, hands-on experience in fundamental sales areas, including customer service, product knowledge, sales processes, customer relationship management (CRM), and performance analysis.
• Collaborate directly with experienced sales teams on real-world projects, contributing to active business initiatives.
• Assist with shipping and receiving operations within the warehouse, providing insight into supply chain and logistics and their direct impact on sales.
• Actively participate in structured leadership and sales training programs designed to enhance professional skills.
• Engage in various sales activities to understand daily branch operations, including inside sales, outside sales calls, counter sales, and aspects of branch management.
• Attend leadership panels and networking events to connect with company leaders and other interns.
• Develop and present a final sales project to senior leaders, showcasing acquired knowledge and skills.
• Participate in a one-week immersive experience at Ferguson’s headquarters in Newport News, VA, dedicated to networking and gaining a deeper understanding of the company’s culture and values.

What You Need (Required Qualifications & Skills):
Education: Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, sales, or a related field, and classified as a rising junior or senior.
Availability: Ability to commit to working 10 consecutive weeks during the summer period.
Personal Attributes: Highly motivated, a self-starter, competitive, customer-centric, and capable of thriving in a fast-paced work environment.
Communication: Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills essential for effective interactions.
Collaboration: Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with both team members and customers.
Problem-Solving: A real-world problem solver with a practical, “roll up their sleeves” attitude to get tasks done.
Organizational Skills: Exhibit strong teamwork, adaptability, and time management skills.
Adaptability: Able to navigate an ambiguous environment while demonstrating strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
Technical Proficiency: Proficient in basic computer programs, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Compensation: A competitive hourly pay of $22.50 per hour. Please note that the starting wage may be higher in certain locations due to local or state wage requirements.

Post-Internship Opportunities:
Upon successful completion of the internship, qualified candidates who demonstrate strong performance may be extended a full-time job offer. Interns should be open to the possibility of relocation, as the offered position may not be in the same location as the internship.
