Job Description: Summer Sales Internship

This is a 10-week paid summer internship at Ferguson, designed for individuals passionate about a career in sales. The internship offers a robust opportunity to gain hands-on experience in sales, develop essential sales competencies, and make a meaningful impact within the organization.

What You Will Do:
Interns will be deeply involved in various aspects of sales and operations, including:
• Gaining practical experience in customer service, product knowledge, sales processes, customer relationship management (CRM), and performance analysis.
• Working alongside experienced sales teams and contributing to real-world projects.
• Assisting with shipping and receiving duties in the warehouse to understand the impact of supply chain and logistics on sales.
• Participating in leadership and sales training sessions.
• Engaging in diverse sales activities, such as inside sales, outside sales, counter sales, and gaining insight into daily branch operations and branch management.
• Attending leadership panels and networking events.
• Developing and presenting a final sales project to senior leaders.
• Participating in a one-week immersive experience at Ferguson’s headquarters in Newport News, VA, to network and gain a deeper understanding of the company’s culture and values.

What You Need (Qualifications):
Successful candidates will possess the following:
• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, sales, or a related field, with a classification of a rising junior or senior.
• Availability to work for 10 consecutive weeks during the summer.
• A highly motivated, self-starter, competitive, and customer-centric mindset.
• Ability to thrive and work effectively in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• A collaborative spirit with the ability to work effectively with team members and customers.
• A pragmatic approach to problem-solving, with a willingness to be hands-on and “roll up their sleeves”.
• Demonstrated strong teamwork, adaptability, and time management skills.
• Proficiency in basic computer programs, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Important Note: Upon successful completion of the internship, qualified candidates with strong performance may be extended a full-time job offer. However, interns should be open to the possibility of relocation, as the position offered may not be in the same location as the internship.
