Job Description – Quantitative Research Internship
This internship program offers a 10-week opportunity to work alongside a mentor at Two Sigma’s New York City office. You’ll gain practical experience by participating in a variety of activities:
• Developing sophisticated investment models: You’ll use the scientific method to shape insights into market behavior.
• Applying quantitative techniques: You’ll leverage machine learning and other techniques to analyze massive datasets.
• Creating and testing complex investment ideas: You’ll collaborate with engineers to test your theories.
While working on a single project, you’ll also be actively involved in the academic community through:
• Joining reading circles: Stay up-to-date on the latest research papers.
• Attending seminars: Learn from thought leaders at top universities.
This internship culminates in a final presentation showcasing your work and learnings.
Ideal Candidate Profile
• Pursuing a technical or quantitative degree: Statistics, mathematics, physics, electrical engineering, or computer science.
• Programming skills: Proficiency in at least one language (C, C++, Java, or Python).
• Research experience: You have completed an in-depth research project involving real-world data.
• Independent thinker: You approach data analysis creatively and can communicate complex ideas clearly.
A background in finance is not required. If you have the quantitative skills, Two Sigma will provide the financial training.
