About the Internship: Summer Live Operations

This is a challenging and rewarding 10-week summer internship where you will leverage your unique perspective and knowledge to make a genuine impact on our business. You will be instrumental in identifying operational gaps and proposing solutions to improve process efficiency. Key Responsibilities

As a Summer Live Operations Intern, you will actively:

  • Provide direct support to the Live Operations Team.
  • Hatchery Shadowing: Gain a deep understanding of proper egg handling procedures, vaccinations, transferring techniques, chick handling, and the roles of each team member in this critical area.
  • Broiler Operations: Witness effective communication with growers and shadow broiler technicians to comprehend their daily activities, housing conditions, and overall farm operations.
  • Breeder Operations: Work alongside pullet crews, gaining firsthand experience in servicing, vaccination protocols, and weighing procedures.
  • Feed Mills: Tour the feed mill to observe the entire production process, learning about different types of feed and essential testing procedures.
  • Observe the entire Live Haul process and assist with unloading trucks.
  • Capstone Project: Complete and present a project focused on identifying and addressing issues within the rendering department, offering practical solutions.

Qualifications

To be considered for this internship, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Currently enrolled in a four-year university or actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree.
  • Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more.

Compensation

The successful applicant for this position will receive:

  • $21 per hour
  • A $2,500 relocation stipend
