CED (Consolidated Electrical Distributors) is one of the nation’s leading, privately held electrical distributors with over 700 locations. They distribute electrical products and offer value-added services to customers in commercial, residential, industrial, and solar markets. They emphasize service, integrity, and reliability.

Job description:

This is a Summer Internship Program located in Charlotte, NC. As a CED intern, you will gain hands-on experience in various aspects of company operations through rotational assignments. These rotations include:

Warehousing & Logistics
Inventory control & Quality assurance
Customer Relations
Purchasing Logistics
Financial Planning
Management & Project Management
Inside/Outside sales

Interns will also be involved in completing real projects for profit center managers. The program is designed to provide insight into CED’s culture and career opportunities.

The internship reports to the Training Manager.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree.
• Current, valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Authorization to work in the United States (without requiring work authorization sponsorship by CED now or in the future).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite software

Additional Competencies:

• Strong negotiation skills.
• Detail-oriented.
• Ability to solve problems.
• Must be a self-starter who can handle a heavy volume of work and be able to handle multiple tasks at the same time.

Working Conditions:

Conditions vary based on the intern’s current training segment and may include warehouse, office, and external environments. Some segments may include lifting, sorting, standing, and possible extreme heat/cold conditions. Office segments may include sitting for extended periods. Some travel (by car and air) is required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

No supervisory responsibilities.

Essential Job Functions:

• Learning all aspects of the CED business.
• Communicating – both written and spoken – in English.

Compensation Range:

The compensation range for this position is $14 to $20 hourly.
