Summer Internship Program | SECU
The Tone:
This is a summer internship at SECU, a credit union dedicated to serving hundreds of thousands of members across Maryland. As the state’s largest credit union, SECU focuses on enhancing the financial well-being of its community by continually seeking organizational improvements and fostering a team-oriented environment where insight is welcomed. This internship program offers college students a valuable opportunity to immerse themselves in day-to-day operations, gain broad exposure to the banking industry, and apply their academic knowledge to real-world challenges, contributing directly to an innovative financial institution.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Project Engagement: Contribute to and actively participate in day-to-day projects across various SECU departments, learning practical application within a professional setting.
• Industry Immersion: Gain broad exposure to the operational intricacies of both the credit union and the wider banking industry through direct engagement.
• Practical Application: Apply academic knowledge and analytical skills to solve real challenges encountered within a thriving financial institution.
• Innovation Contribution: Offer fresh perspectives and ideas to contribute to projects aimed at driving innovation within the banking sector.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Must be a rising junior or senior, currently enrolled in an accredited college or university. Candidates should be pursuing a degree with a primary focus in business, finance, accounting, marketing, economics, information technology, or a closely related field, demonstrating a foundational understanding of relevant concepts.
• Experience: Possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, reflecting strong academic performance. Candidates should also demonstrate proficiency with MS Office Suite applications, indicating readiness for professional software use.
• Skills: Exhibit strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, coupled with excellent communication skills for effective interaction. Must demonstrate teamwork abilities, capable of working both independently and collaboratively, and possess a highly motivated and energetic attitude. Additionally, reliable transportation is required for program participation.
