Summer Internship Program | Blue Bird
The Tone:
This is an internship at Blue Bird, located in Fort Valley, GA (In-person). Blue Bird designs, engineers, and manufactures school buses, recognized as a technology leader in the industry with a primary focus on safety, reliability, and durability. This program is designed for individuals eager to contribute to the critical mission of transporting children daily and support the company’s transformation towards cleaner energy solutions in student transportation. Interns will engage in meaningful work that creates real-world impact and can lead to future career opportunities within the company.
The TL;DR

• Team: Placements across various departments (Human Resources, Operations, Commercial, Engineering, Information Technology)

What You’ll Actually Do
• Functional Work: Complete assigned tasks that directly support departmental goals within a manufacturing and business environment.
• Process Improvement: Contribute to process improvement, problem-solving, and operational efficiency using data analysis, observation, and collaboration.
• Project Delivery: Undertake a core functional assignment and a special project designed to provide measurable value to the business.
• Communication: Clearly communicate project progress, potential risks, and final outcomes to peers, mentors, and leaders through various formats.
• Project Presentation: Showcase key project learnings and outcomes by presenting them to members of the Leadership Team at the program’s conclusion.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Current student (Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or Graduate level) pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a field aligned with Human Resources, Operations, Commercial, Engineering, or Information Technology.
• Experience: No specific prior work experience required beyond current student status; must be at least 18 years old prior to the start date and maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA.
• Skills: Critical thinking, data utilization, and analytical skills to support recommendations; effective time management, planning, and task execution to meet deadlines; strong collaboration and communication skills for effective teamwork; a continuous improvement mindset and intellectual curiosity.
