Job Description (Detailed)

This is a Summer Internship Program offering college students a valuable opportunity to gain meaningful work experience through on-the-job training assignments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design & Development: Actively participate in the design, development, integration, and testing phases of various site projects.
• Engineering Support: Provide crucial engineering support for technical problems, including the recommendation of appropriate courses of action.
• Complex Problem Assistance: Assist senior engineers with complex problems as assigned, learning from experienced professionals.
• Project Status Reporting: Regularly report on the status of individual and group projects to ensure transparency and track progress.
• Capstone Project: Develop and present a summer capstone project to division leadership, showcasing learned skills and contributions.
• Collaborative & Independent Work: Work effectively both within a team environment and independently across multiple programs to accomplish assigned tasks.

Required Qualifications:

• Academic Focus: Currently searching for students majoring in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related engineering discipline.
• Academic Standing: Must maintain a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0.
• Security Clearance Eligibility: Eligibility to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance is mandatory.
• Teamwork: Possess strong interpersonal skills that enhance performance and collaboration within a team environment.
• Communication: Demonstrate professional communication skills, including effective interaction with engineering team members and management in both informal and formal settings.

Desired Skills:

• Programming Languages: Experience with MatLab, Python, or C/C++ is preferred.
• Design Evaluation: Experience in reviewing and evaluating design calculations and data from an engineering perspective.
• Technical Comprehension: Ability to read design/construction drawings and understand design narratives and calculations.
• Technical Writing: Skills in technical writing for preparing manuals, parts lists, proposals, and design documentation.

Clearance Information:

As SRC is a contractor for the U.S. Government, this position requires U.S. Citizenship and the eligibility to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance at the Secret level.
