Internship Purpose & General Summary

This intensive 10-week summer internship offers a unique opportunity to apply your knowledge and perspective to identify operational gaps and enhance process efficiency within JBS Foods. Key Responsibilities

As a Summer Intern, you will provide integral support to the Live Operations Team, gaining hands-on experience across various critical departments:

  • Shadowing within the Hatchery: Develop a comprehensive understanding of proper egg handling procedures, vaccination techniques, transferring processes, and chick handling. Observe and learn the specific roles and responsibilities of employees in this area.
  • Broiler Operations: Witness effective communication strategies with growers and shadow broiler technicians to gain insights into their daily routines. Acquire knowledge on optimal housing conditions and general farm operations.
  • Breeder Operations: Shadow pullet crews and actively participate in their work, gaining firsthand experience in servicing, vaccinations, and weighing procedures.
  • Feed Mills: Undertake a comprehensive tour of the feed mill to observe the entire production process. Understand the different types of feed formulated and the rigorous testing procedures involved.
  • Live Haul Process: Observe the overall live haul process and actively assist in unloading trucks, understanding the logistics and safety protocols.
  • Project Completion: Complete and present a significant project focused on identifying and addressing issues within the rendering department.

Qualifications

We are seeking motivated individuals who meet the following criteria:

  • Currently enrolled in a four-year university or pursuing a bachelor’s degree.
  • Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive hourly wage: $21/hour
  • Relocation stipend: $2,500
