Summer Internship Program – Investment Department
This 10-week program provides an introduction to the alternative investment industry. Interns gain real-world experience, complementing their studies and fostering professional development.
Target candidates are rising seniors pursuing a career in investment management.
# Research Department:
The Research department focuses on identifying, underwriting, and monitoring investments within alternative investment managers and related opportunities globally. They utilize various investment strategies such as credit, equities, macro, quant, relative value, or multi-strategy.
# Responsibilities:
• Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis of existing and potential investments in hedge fund managers.
• Track, analyze, and interpret trends in specific strategies and related capital markets.
• Assess new investment strategies and monitor current conditions within existing strategies.
• Prepare internal and external market and investment commentary on a monthly basis.
• Communicate (verbally and in writing) hedge fund manager and strategy-related issues to the Investments department and Investment Committee.
• Participate in due diligence of potential new investments with hedge fund managers.
• Participate in department meetings and strategy review meetings.
• Complete a summer project related to the industry and present it to the Investments department.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
# Requirements:
• Juniors/third years pursuing a BA/BS with a concentration in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related field.
• Superior academic performance.
• Strong interest in and knowledge of the investment industry, particularly the alternative investment industry.
• Applicable coursework or previous internship in the field of investments or financial markets (beneficial but not required).
• Superior written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to articulate thoughts clearly and concisely to both clients and staff through written correspondence, presentations, and meetings.
• Flexibility and adaptability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment with shifts in workflow priorities under tight time constraints.
• Excellent work ethic, high degree of professionalism and integrity, and commitment to teamwork in a goal-oriented environment.
• Superior organization, critical decision making, and problem-solving skills with the demonstrated initiative and ability to manage tasks and projects independently in a cross-functional team environment.
• Strong attention to detail and concern for the quality and accuracy of final product, balancing this with deadlines.
• Team player, self-starter, independent, and critical thinker.
• Flexible schedule which allows for certain late nights and weekends depending upon the workload.
• Ability to recognize the requirements of confidentiality.
• Highly proficient with Excel, Word, and Outlook.
