Job Description: Summer Internship in Machine Vision
This internship aims to prepare college students for entry into the business world by providing a comprehensive understanding of Zebra Technologies. The program offers a full experience, including training, exposure to various business functions, social activities, a professional mentor relationship, and development sessions.
Team: This internship is within the team responsible for developing core platform services for fixed industrial machine vision cameras and the Zebra Aurora Focus application. The Aurora Focus application provides a unified platform for setting up, deploying, and running Fixed Industrial Scanning or Vision System jobs to control enterprise-wide manufacturing and logistics automation solutions.
Responsibilities:
• Work alongside a team of engineers in New York and other locations worldwide.
• Design and develop new features for the Machine Vision Business Unit, primarily focused on Fixed Industrial Scanning (FIS).
• Implement high-priority sales requests.
• Enhance barcode and machine vision tools in the primary job builder application.
• Analyze logs and perform complex troubleshooting.
• Profile system performance and suggest optimizations.
• Assess different open-source libraries to solve specific problems.
• Implement unit tests.
• Gain understanding of how embedded smart cameras work in automated quality inspections.
• Write build test and automation scripts.
• Develop planning, organizational, and leadership skills.
• Increase technology knowledge and skills.
• Develop team-based work proficiencies.
• Develop interpersonal skills to connect with business contacts through follow-up activities.
This is a hybrid internship located in Holtsville, NY, with a minimum of 3 days of in-office attendance required.
Qualifications:
• Minimum Qualifications:
• Current enrollment in an undergraduate degree program in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or Computer Science.
• Anticipated graduation date between May 2026 – December 2026.
• Proficiency in C/C++ Programming.
• Knowledge of scripting languages such as Perl, Python, PowerShell.
• Working knowledge of JavaScript, NodeJS, SQL database, Web Services.
• Ability to work on a hybrid schedule in Holtsville, NY.
• Must be authorized to work in the US without requiring sponsorship.
• Preferred Qualifications:
• Working knowledge of JavaScript, NodeJS, SQL database, Web Services.
• Application development experience on both Windows and Linux platforms.
• Working knowledge of inter-process communication techniques like ZeroMQ.
• Good analytical skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Intellectual curiosity with a strong desire to learn and grow.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (including Excel, Word, & PowerPoint).
