About The Colleague Experience Group (CEG)

Summer Internship Program in CEG
This program offers high-performing HR Masters students the opportunity to work on impactful initiatives aligned with the CEG strategy. Interns gain significant exposure to senior leadership and various CEG functional areas. At the end of the program, interns present their insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
The summer internship is a pipeline into the full-time Human Resources Leadership Development Program (HRLDP). Successful interns are offered the opportunity to return after graduation for this two-year program, which includes three diverse and impactful CEG rotations. The program promotes individual development through senior leader mentorship and coaching. Upon completion, participants transition into full-time roles based on business need and interest.
Minimum Qualifications
• Currently enrolled in an HR-related master’s degree program (e.g., Human Resource Management/Organizational Psychology/Industrial Labor Relations/Human Capital)
• Demonstrated commitment and passion for a career in HR
• Desire to grow a long-term career in CEG at American Express
• Ability to be based in New York and work in the hybrid model
• Graduation date between December 2025 and June 2026
Preferred Qualifications
• Minimum of 3 years work experience
• Strong leadership experience with demonstrated ability to lead people, teams or projects, including leading through change
• Adaptability and willingness to learn in a fast-paced, changing environment with quality and speed
• Ability to use data, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills to drive results
• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, including the ability to communicate, influence and collaborate across all levels
• Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, and storytelling skills
• Self-motivated, proactive, and driven to take initiative
• Strong leadership experience with demonstrated ability to lead people or projects, especially through change
• Driven by purpose and perseveres in the face of challenges
• Seeks and gives feedback and demonstrates self-awareness to drive personal growth
• Commitment to speaking up and challenging the status quo
Salary and Benefits
• Salary Range: $38.45 to $87.00 hourly + sign-on bonus
