Summer Internship Program – Engineering/Computer Science
About the Program
SRC’s Summer Internship Program offers an invaluable opportunity for ambitious college students to gain meaningful, hands-on work experience through dedicated on-the-job training assignments. Interns will immerse themselves in real-world engineering challenges, contributing directly to projects and developing critical professional skills within a dynamic team environment.
Key Responsibilities
As a Summer Intern, you will be expected to:
• Take an active and integral part in the full lifecycle of site projects, encompassing their design, development, integration, and testing phases.
• Provide essential engineering support for a range of technical problems, diligently analyzing issues and recommending effective courses of action.
• Assist senior engineers on complex problems and critical assignments, learning directly from experienced professionals.
• Report diligently on both individual and group project statuses, maintaining clear communication with team leads and management.
• Develop and present a comprehensive summer capstone project to division leadership, showcasing your contributions and learning outcomes.
• Potentially work across multiple programs, demonstrating adaptability in both collaborative team settings and independent tasks to successfully perform assigned duties.
Mandatory Requirements
• Academic Focus: Currently searching for students majoring in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related engineering discipline.
• Academic Standing: A minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 is required.
• Security Clearance Eligibility: Must be eligible to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance.
• Teamwork & Communication: Possess strong interpersonal skills that foster high performance within a team environment, coupled with professional communication skills essential for interacting with engineering team members and management in both informal and formal settings.
Desired Skills
Candidates who possess the following skills will be highly regarded:
• Programming Proficiency: Experience with MatLab, Python, or C/C++.
• Technical Evaluation: Experience in reviewing and evaluating design calculations and technical data from an engineering perspective.
• Drawing & Document Comprehension: Ability to proficiently read design/construction drawings and thoroughly understand design narratives and complex calculations.
• Technical Writing: Strong skills in technical writing, applicable to preparing manuals, parts lists, proposals, and comprehensive design documentation.
Security Clearance Information
SRC IS A CONTRACTOR FOR THE U.S. GOVERNMENT. This position explicitly requires U.S. Citizenship and eligibility for a U.S. Government security clearance at the Secret level. All applicants must meet these stringent requirements to be considered.
