Job Description:

The Embedded and Open Systems Group at MIT Lincoln Laboratory seeks talented students for summer internships. Internship projects are based on current research efforts and vary year to year, but all are technical and require a strong understanding of engineering practices. Potential projects include:

Real-time implementation and optimization of advanced signal processing algorithms on CPUs and GPUs.
Development and implementation of high-volume, high-speed data processing stages on commercial FPGAs.
Development of operator UIs for fielded test assets, supporting lab demonstrations and field experiments.
Defining and implementing RESTful APIs to expose new data and integrate into a common ground system.
Implementing and evaluating novel algorithms in signal processing, scheduling, or distributed systems.
Designing, implementing, and evaluating algorithms for detection, identification, and other AI/ML capabilities using data from various sources.

Required Qualifications:

• Completed coursework in Software Engineering related fields (Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering).
• Project or work experience implementing software using languages and tools such as C++, Java, Python, or commercial Hardware Description Languages (HDLs).
• Experience working in technical project teams.
• Effective written and oral communication skills in technical settings.
• Previous internship experience (a plus).
U.S. Citizenship is required. A pre-employment background investigation is required, and the candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret level DoD security clearance.
