Job Description:

BCBSM’s internship program offers a 12-week, full-time (40 hours/week) opportunity starting May 19th and ending August 8th, 2025. The position is a hybrid role located in Detroit, MI. The program emphasizes providing interns with:

Real-world work experience: Interns will tackle real projects alongside full-time employees, contributing directly to ongoing work and problem-solving. There is no typical day, as assignments will vary based on team needs.
Professional development and networking: With approximately 150 interns participating in the summer program, the internship provides ample networking opportunities to build professional relationships with peers and BCBSM employees.
Community involvement: Reflecting BCBSM’s non-profit values, interns may have the chance to consult for local non-profits, assisting them with challenges they face.

The program aims to enhance the skills and abilities of young professionals while attracting future talent for BCBSM. Interns will gain practical experience within the health insurance industry, contributing to meaningful projects, acquiring valuable skills, and networking with employees—potentially creating pathways to future employment within the company.

Qualifications:

• Current undergraduate or graduate student with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
• Must be enrolled in a college/university or a Master’s/PhD program for the internship’s duration.
Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Excellent organizational skills for managing multiple projects and priorities.
• Ability to maintain highly confidential information.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships.
